What’s the Best Holster for a Sig P229 Legion?

I’ve recently acquired a Sig P229 Legion and I’m on the hunt for the best holster to complement it. I’ve done some research, but the options are overwhelming, and I’d love to hear from fellow enthusiasts.

Comfort and Fit

Since the P229 Legion is a compact pistol, comfort is key. I’m looking for something that won’t dig into my side during prolonged wear. I’ve heard good things about both IWB (Inside the Waistband) and OWB (Outside the Waistband) holsters, but I’m leaning towards IWB for concealed carry.

Safety Features

Another crucial factor is safety. I want a holster that securely retains the firearm but also allows for a smooth draw when needed. Have any of you tried holsters that have tension adjustments?

Material and Durability

I’ve seen options in leather, Kydex, and hybrid materials. I’d like something durable that will stand the test of time without sacrificing comfort.

Recommendations?

If anyone has specific brands or models that you’ve had a good experience with while carrying the Sig P229 Legion, please share! How do they perform when it comes to comfort, concealability, and accessibility?

I really appreciate any insight or personal experiences you can share. Thanks in advance for your help!

Looking forward to hearing your recommendations!

I’ve tried a few different holsters for my P229 Legion. I found that Kydex offers great retention and quick draw speed. It’s perfect for day-to-day carry and doesn’t lose its shape over time.

I agree, Kydex is fantastic! However, I prefer leather for comfort. It molds to your body, and you can’t beat that classic feel.

Kydex is indeed great for retention, but I’d love to hear more about leather holsters for concealed carry. Do they really stay snug against the body?

Leather holsters can be snug if you get the right fit. Just make sure you break them in properly. They can be super comfy after that!

I’ve been using a hybrid holster which combines both Kydex and leather. It’s surprisingly comfy while offering great draw speed. I’d recommend trying hybrids for versatility.

That sounds interesting! Do you find any drawbacks with hybrid holsters though?

The only downside I’ve noticed with hybrids is that they can be bulkier, but overall, the comfort makes it worth it for me!

I’ve had a different experience with hybrid holsters; I found them less secure than full Kydex ones. Maybe it depends on the design?

Totally! I think it does vary by brand. Sometimes you gotta test a few to find the right one for you.

I’ve seen a lot of people rave about OWB holsters too. What do folks think about comfort and concealability with them?

OWB can be comfy, but concealability is a challenge. I usually reserve it for certain outfits or when I’m carrying openly.

At the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference and activity. There’s no one-size-fits-all! What works for one person might not work for another.

I’ve been carrying my Sig P229 Legion in a CrossBreed SuperTuck Deluxe for a while now. It’s really comfortable for concealed carry and allows for great accessibility. Highly recommend it!

That’s good to hear! Has it worked well for sitting, or does it dig in a bit?

I prefer the Galco KingTuk IWB holster for my P229 Legion. It’s very discreet and offers a nice blend of comfort and accessibility.

The KingTuk is awesome! I’ve noticed that with IWB, sometimes clothing can get in the way. How do you deal with that?

For open carry, I would suggest a Safariland retention holster. It’s really secure and keeps the P229 Legion accessible without compromising safety.

Good choice! Safety is key, especially when open carrying. How easy is it to draw from that holster in a hurry?

I’ve had great luck with the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.5. It’s versatile for both concealed and open carry. Plus, it’s easily adjustable for comfort.
