I’ve had my S&W Equalizer 9mm for a few months now, and the reliability has been solid. It works well with various brands of FMJ and JHP. No major issues so far!

Yes! I had no failures with hollow points during a rain test. The Equalizer seems to handle it all quite well, performing flawlessly for me.
From what I’ve seen, the S&W Equalizer is built to last. My only concern is the finish; it’s scratched a bit easily. Has anyone else noticed that?

I’ve noticed that too, but it’s not a dealbreaker for me. Are you using any holster that might be causing that?
A bit, yes. I switched to a softer holster after a few weeks which seems to help a bit. Overall, though, the performance far outweighs the aesthetics for me.
I’ve read that this pistol can be picky with certain defensive rounds. Has anyone had issues with specific brands?
I’ve had a problem with some hollow points, but I think it might be because of my ammo choice rather than the gun itself.

Haha, maybe we should start a support group for those of us battling with ammo choice! But seriously, I agree with renee96; it’s a learning curve figuring out what works best.
Reflecting on its overall value, I really think the S&W Equalizer offers a good balance of performance and price, especially for a first-time buyer. Well worth considering!
