Absolutely! For gear, I’d recommend a reliable bolt action rifle with a caliber like .270 or .30-06, and don’t skimp on optics—good binoculars are a must!

I agree with calderonmichael! Also, make sure to dress in layers, especially for early morning hunts. A good pair of waterproof boots is crucial for traversing the countryside.
Great advice! I’ve also found that using a quality backpack helps to carry all your gear comfortably. Texas gets hot, so breathable fabrics are ideal.
I’ll second the recommendations about clothing but I think hydration packs are underrated! Staying hydrated is key when hunting all day in the Texas heat.
Definitely! And on that note, consider having some game bags. You wouldn’t want to ruin your meat after a successful hunt!
For optics, I’ve had great success with Leupold scopes. They really bring in the light during dawn and dusk, which is prime time for mule deer!

One time, I forgot my ammo at home! Lesson learned: always double-check your gear the night before. Don’t be like me!
