Can Anyone Share Their Christensen Arms .338 Lapua Review?

I’ve put over 600 rounds through mine without any malfunctions! It’s as if it gets better with use, and accuracy remains consistent. I think it can withstand the test of time!

I’ve had great experiences with the Christensen Arms .338 Lapua! I found that Lapua Scenar and Hornady ELD-M match bullets really excelled in accuracy and consistency. Recoil management with a muzzle brake makes a huge difference too!

That’s awesome to hear, Karen! Those ammo types are widely recommended. How do you find the recoil with those rounds?

I mostly use the Berger VLDs, and they’ve performed well for me. The recoil can be snappy, but I’ve adjusted my stance and used a good shoulder pad to help. It’s key to maintain a strong grip!

Managing that recoil is critical! I’ve been experimenting with different muzzle brakes. Have you found a specific one that helps the most?

I’ve tried a few options, but my favorite is the brake from Active Precision. It really tames the .338’s kick, making it more manageable for longer shooting sessions.

It’s encouraging to hear everyone’s insights! I’ve only used the factory ammo initially; does anyone else have thoughts on reloading or specific brands that reduce recoil more effectively?

Great question! I find that handloading with lighter bullets reduces felt recoil significantly. Plus, you can tailor load data to your rifle’s twist rate!

Speaking of recoil, I joked that my buddies call my .338 'the shoulder cannon.':joy: But in all seriousness, investing in a good recoil pad was game-changing for me.

Haha, love that nickname! Muzzle brakes and proper stance really help, but I’ve found that practicing dry-firing can also improve flinch management when using powerful rounds.

A practical tip for sure! Recoil is often talked about, but it can affect your accuracy too. My favorite is trying out different ammo brands until I find what fits my shooting style best.
