Anyone using Remington No. 10 Percussion Caps? Looking for Tips and Advice!

I’m curious if anyone has had issues with the caps being inconsistent? I’ve read mixed reviews online.

I’ve noticed that too. To minimize problems, make sure your firearm is well maintained and cleaned regularly as well.

For those who reload frequently, have you developed any specific techniques to make the process smoother? I sometimes feel rushed.

One technique I use is organizing all my materials before starting. It helps reduce stress and lets me focus on the task at hand. Plus, I like to listen to music!

Music while reloading? Now that’s a great idea, @vancebilly! But wait, what happens if you accidentally mix up the caps while jamming out? :joy:

Haha, that’s why I double-check everything before I start! Better safe than sorry, right? Can’t have a musical mishap with my reloading!

I have been using Remington No. 10 percussion caps for a while now. In my experience, they have a nice, consistent ignition compared to other brands like CCI or RWS. Pricing is generally competitive too.

That’s good to know! I’ve heard varying opinions on them, but I’ve always preferred CCI for their reliability.

If you’re looking for alternatives, I had a very mixed experience with RWS caps recently. They tend to misfire more often compared to Remington No. 10.

I completely agree! I had several dud rounds which is why I switched to Remington No. 10 caps and haven’t looked back since.

Yeah, the performance of percussion caps can vary so much depending on the batch. I think Remington’s quality control is noticeably better than some others.

For me, the price of Remington No. 10 caps is definitely a selling point. They are usually cheaper than other brands while still maintaining good performance.

Absolutely! I’ve seen them on sale for pretty good prices, too, at some stores. Definitely worth considering for budget shooters.

I wonder how the Remington No. 10 compares in humid conditions? Anyone had issues with that? I’ve heard some caps don’t perform well in moisture.

Good question! I’ve used them during rainy days without significant problems, but I always store them in a safe, dry place.

I found that Remington No. 10s give a loud report, which adds to the overall shooting experience—unlike some other brands that feel less exciting. Just my two cents!

Haha! I love that! It’s nice to feel like you’re really doing something when you pull the trigger.

In the end, it really depends on personal preference. I’ve been happy using Remington No. 10 caps for various outdoor shoots, but I always recommend trying a few brands to see what works for you.
