Thoughts on the Ruger GP100 6 Inch? Looking for Insights!

I’m considering adding a Ruger GP100 6 inch to my collection and would love to hear from anyone who has experience with this revolver. Here are a few specific areas I’m interested in:

Performance

  • How does the 6 inch barrel affect accuracy compared to shorter models?
  • What’s the recoil like? Can you handle it comfortably for extended shooting sessions?

Features

  • Are there any standout features that make the Ruger GP100 a great choice?
  • How does the fit and finish of this model stack up against others in the same category?

Accessories

  • Recommendations for holsters or grips? I’m looking for something that complements the 6 inch model.

Comparisons

  • How does it compare to other revolvers in the same class, like the S&W Model 686 or even the 4 inch version of the GP100?

Feel free to share your experiences, pros and cons, or even just general thoughts. I’m eager to learn more before making a decision!

I’ve had my GP100 6 inch for a couple of years now, and the accuracy is just fantastic. At the range, I consistently get tight groups, especially with .38 special rounds.

Totally agree! The GP100 really shines for target shooting. The heavy barrel helps with recoil management too, making it easier to stay on target.

I’ve found the GP100 to be very versatile. Whether I’m shooting at the range or out in the woods, it performs really well. Plus, it handles different ammo types like a champ!

Exactly, I love how it feels with both .357 and .38 shells. It really adapts to whatever you feed it, which is a big plus for me!

Anyone else experienced the recoil? I hear it’s manageable, but I’d love some insights on how it feels after a few rounds.

Recoil is pretty easy to handle! I’ve done some extended shooting sessions with it, and I never felt fatigued. The grip design helps a lot.

You guys are making me want to shoot mine again! The precision in various conditions is worth mentioning too; it’s pretty reliable even in bad weather.

Absolutely! I shot mine in the rain once, and while it was nerve-wracking, it still performed flawlessly. Ruger really made a solid revolver.

Has anyone had issues with accuracy past 50 yards? I’ve read mixed reviews about it being a long-distance shooter.

In my experience, it’s still quite good at that range! It takes practice, but it can definitely hit the mark if you know your aim.

I think it’s all about how you adjust your stance and grip! Once I figured that out, my hits improved significantly. Just my two cents!

Started off unsure about it, but now I’m a huge fan! The GP100’s performance has really changed my perception of revolvers; it’s truly impressive.

Can’t believe I waited this long to try it! I was a revolver skeptic, but now I’m ready to embrace all-wheel revolvers have to offer!

Just remember, it’s not a miracle worker! If your aim is off, it won’t fix that. Practice is still key no matter what gun you have!

I’ve had my Ruger GP100 6 inch for a few years now, and the build quality is top-notch. The stainless steel frame feels solid, and I’ve shot thousands of rounds without any issues. Perfect for both range days and home defense!

That’s awesome to hear, ochaney! I’ve been considering this revolver for its durability. Does anyone know how it performs in humid conditions?

The Ruger GP100 is built like a tank. I took mine to the rain-soaked woods for some target practice, and it held up beautifully. It’s definitely weather-resistant!

That’s great news! Does anyone have any thoughts on how it performs after extensive shooting? Wondering about the wear on the internals.

I’ve put several thousand rounds through mine without a hitch. The action remains smooth, and the finish is still pristine. Ruger really nailed it with the long-term reliability on this model!
