I’ve had my Ruger American Gen II .308 for about six months now. The shooting performance is fantastic! I’ve hit targets consistently at 300 yards.

That’s awesome! I’ve found the accuracy quite impressive too, especially when using quality ammo. What’s your favorite load to use?

I’ve used a variety of loads, but the Federal Gold Medal Match has been my go-to. I’ve shot 1 MOA groups at 100 yards without any modifications.

That’s impressive! Have you made any tweaks to your rifle to help with accuracy?

I added a cheek riser and upgraded the scope to a Vortex. It made a huge difference in my comfort and accuracy at longer ranges.

I’m considering a scope upgrade as well. What magnification do you recommend?

I suggest going for at least a 4-12x scope. It helps a lot in clarity during those longer shots.

Have any of you tested it beyond 500 yards? Wondering how it holds up at those distances.

Yes, I took it to about 600 yards last month! I was surprised at how well it performed, around 2 MOA. Definitely need to work on my breathing though!

That’s quite acceptable for that range! Many rifles struggle at that distance.

I’ve heard some people complain about the stock. Who thinks it’s a problem? Just curious if there’s real evidence behind that.

I don’t find it an issue at all, but I know some prefer a heavier stock. It’s all about personal preference.

I think the stock is fine for the price range of the rifle. If you’re shooting more than 500 yards, you might consider an upgrade though.

Totally agree! I just love how versatile this rifle is. It’s good for both hunting and target shooting. Funny how expectations can vary!

I’ve had a Ruger American Gen II in .308 for about a year now. The build quality feels solid, and the synthetic stock holds up really well. It’s also lightweight, which I appreciate for long days at the range.

I agree! The balance of the rifle is excellent. I also find the adjustable trigger to be a fantastic ergonomic feature, allowing for a more customized shooting experience.

I was initially hesitant about the polymer stock, but it feels durable. I can definitely say it holds up well against weather elements while maintaining a good grip even after it rains.

That’s true! The gripping surface is surprisingly effective. I also love the overall minimalistic design which gives an uncluttered feel.

One thing I’ve noticed is that the rifle feels a bit bulky compared to some others I’ve used. Have others felt this way, or is it just me?
