Norma 9mm 124 Gr FMJ - What’s the Verdict?

I’ve been hearing a lot about Norma 9mm 124 gr FMJ ammunition lately, and I’m curious to gather some opinions from you all. For anyone who’s had the chance to use this particular round, what has your experience been like? Here are a few points I’m particularly interested in:

  • Reliability: Did you encounter any jams or misfires during your sessions?
  • Accuracy: How does it perform on the range? Any notable groupings?
  • Cleanliness: Is the residue manageable, or does it leave a significant cleanup?
  • Suitability for training: Do you think it’s a good option for range training versus other brands?

Feel free to share your thoughts, experiences, and any relevant tests you’ve conducted. I’m looking to make an informed decision on whether I should go ahead and purchase a box (or two) for my next shooting sessions. Thanks in advance for your insights!

I’ve been using Norma 9mm 124 Gr FMJ for a while now, and I must say, the accuracy is impressive. It performs really well in my Glock 19.

I totally agree. I shot it through my SIG P320, and it felt quite smooth. The recoil is minimal, making it great for extended sessions at the range.

I’ve had mixed experiences with the Norma FMJ. Sometimes it groups nicely, and other times it strays off. Could it be my grip? I’m curious if others have faced similar issues.

I’ve wondered the same! It might just take some time getting accustomed to it. I’ve only used this ammo in my CZ P-10 and had pretty consistent results. Recoil felt manageable too.

I also use the Norma 124 Gr FMJ in my Beretta 92FS. It cycles perfectly and accuracy is on point. But, no matter what ammo, I usually flinch a bit. It’s a work in progress!

Good to hear about the cycles, Trevor! I’ve been considering switching to this ammo. Anyone noticed significant differences between Norma and other brands like Winchester?

I’ve noticed a smoother feel when shooting Norma compared to Winchester. Less recoil translates to better follow-up shots for me!

Honestly, it’s funny how personal preferences differ! I had a buddy who swore by this ammo but couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. I think it’s all about the shooter’s skill too.

That’s true! But sometimes you just have to find the right combination of ammo and shooter to hit that sweet spot.

I’ve seen a few reviews online calling it overrated. But honestly, for the price and performance, it works well enough for range training. I’m supportive of the Norma brand!

I’m with you on that! While it may not be for everyone, I think it’s solid for the everyday shooter.

Just did a funny ‘what’s in my range bag’ video and the Norma 124 Gr FMJ made the cut! It’s like finding that perfect pair of shoes—comfortable and reliable.

I’ve used the Norma 9mm 124 Gr FMJ in my Glock 19, and it has been incredibly reliable. No jams or misfeeds after hundreds of rounds. I highly recommend it!

That’s great to hear! I’m considering it for my Sig P320. Anyone had experience with it there?

I’ve shot it through my P320, and it performed well without any issues. Good groups and zero misfeeds. Definitely a keeper!

Sounds promising! How does it perform in colder conditions? Any issues reported?

I’ve used it in freezing weather and it shot flawlessly. No jams or anything surprising, which is what I expected from Norma.

That’s impressive! I heard some manufacturers struggle in low temps. What about in dirty conditions?

I ran it through my HK VP9 after a weekend of shooting in dusty conditions, and it still performed great. No issues whatsoever!
