Need Help with Reloder 15 Load Data for .308

I’ve been getting into reloading lately, and I’m particularly interested in using Reloder 15 powder for my .308 loads. I’ve heard some great things about its performance, but I’m looking for specific load data and recipes.

  • What bullet weights do you recommend using with Reloder 15 for .308?
  • Anyone have experience with accuracy at longer ranges?
  • Are there any specific primers or cases that work best?

I want to ensure I’m getting the most out of this powder. Any insights on your personal experiences or a good starting point for load data would be greatly appreciated! Looking to refine my loads for both target shooting and hunting.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Reloder 15 is a great choice for .308 due to its medium burn rate. It’s versatile and performs well across various temperatures, making it reliable for different shooting conditions.

Absolutely! Its efficiency in producing consistent velocities really sets it apart from many other powders. I’ve used it in my AR-10 with fantastic results.

Is it true that Reloder 15 works better in heavier bullets? I read somewhere that it helps maintain accuracy with .308 projectiles.

Yes, it seems to shine with bullets in the 168-180 grain range. I’ve noticed better grouping in my .308 when using these weights as well!

Reloder 15 is also known for being temperature stable. You won’t see drastic changes in performance in extreme weather like some other powders. A definite plus!

I find that using Reloder 15 can often yield lower SD (standard deviation) numbers. This helps in achieving tighter shot groups on the range, which is always a goal for precision shooters.

Interesting! I wonder how it competes with faster powders. Anyone have experience with that?

In my experience, while Reloder 15 is fantastic, I’ve had moments where using faster powders gave me quicker follow-up shots in semi-autos. It’s all about the balance of speed versus accuracy!

Support for Reloder 15! It has been my go-to for reloading .308 for years. Never had a problem with it, not even in my older rifle. Anyone looking to switch should definitely give it a shot.

That’s great to hear! What specific loads do you recommend for target shooting versus hunting?

For target shooting, I usually load 42.5 grains under a 168 grain bullet, but for hunting, I up it to about 44 grains with a 180 grain bullet for better expansion.

How does everyone feel about the availability of Reloder 15? Sometimes I wonder if it’s even worth stocking up on when other powders are more readily available. Thoughts?

Honestly, the availability of Reloder 15 can be hit or miss. I stock up whenever I find it, just because I trust it so much over other options. It’s a personal preference for sure!

Good point! Also, I heard using it with a lighter bullet can sometimes lead to pressure issues; anyone experienced that?

I’m using Reloder 15 with 168gr ELD-M bullets. I’ve found that 42.0 grains is a great starting point for .308. It delivers excellent accuracy!

Thanks for sharing! I’m planning to load some 150gr Sierra Pro-Hunters. Any recommended charge weights?

For 150gr bullets, try starting around 41.0 grains of Reloder 15. I’ve had solid results without overpressure signs.

That’s helpful! Have you tried it with any other bullet types? What about 175grs?

Absolutely! I use 175gr SMK with 40.5 grains of Reloder 15. It flies true and delivers tight groups at long distances.
