Looking for Thoughts on CCI 22LR Subsonic 40gr Ammo

Introduction

I’ve been doing some research on the CCI 22LR Subsonic 40gr ammo and I’m curious to hear from anyone who has experience with it. This specific ammo seems to be popular for its performance, especially for small game hunting and plinking. I’m particularly interested in how it performs in semi-automatic rifles compared to bolt actions.

Performance & Accuracy

From what I gather, the subsonic nature of this ammo is supposed to make it quieter, which is a big plus if you’re hunting squirrels and want to avoid spooking them. Has anyone found that it really does reduce noise significantly? Also, how’s the accuracy? When it comes to hitting targets and small game, I want to know if this round has been reliable in achieving tight groupings at longer distances.

Discussion Points

  • Reliability: How consistent has this ammo been for you in various firearms?
  • Hunting Success: Any specific experiences hunting with it? Success rates, distances, etc.?
  • Comparison: How does it stack up against other similar rounds you’ve tried?

Conclusion

Overall, it would be great to hear a range of experiences and maybe even tips on using CCI 22LR Subsonic 40gr ammo effectively. I’m considering stocking up and would love some community feedback before making a purchase. Looking forward to your thoughts!

I’ve used both Federal and Winchester ammo, but I have to say, CCI seems more consistent with fewer misfires. Plus, they’re quieter, which is a bonus for backyard plinking!

Has anyone tried them for small game hunting? I’m considering bringing them along on my next trip. Would they do the job?

In my experience, they can do fine for smaller critters like squirrels, though I prefer a higher velocity for anything bigger.

I must say, the price point for CCI 22LR is quite reasonable too. Given the performance, they are hard to beat! Anyone find them at a better price lately?

I’ve seen them go on sale at local shops now and then. Online prices can vary a lot, so always good to check around! Anyone else have a preferred store?

On a lighter note, I’ve accidentally mixed CCI subsonic with standard velocity ones before. Let’s just say the sound difference was… surprising at the range! :joy:

LOL, that sounds like quite the experience! I can only imagine the looks you got from others around you! :joy:

Definitely caught me off guard! But hey, it taught me to pay better attention in the future!

Overall, I’ve found CCI 22LR subsonic to be my go-to for both target and casual shooting. They perform well in different conditions, and I’ve had very few issues. Definitely recommend!

I’ve had great experiences with the CCI 22LR subsonic 40gr ammo. When fired through my suppressor, the noise reduction is impressive. Hardly a peep!

I typically use a Silencerco Sparrow 22 with this ammo. The sound is barely noticeable, it’s like a light pop. Perfect for backyard shooting!

I’ve been thinking of getting a Sparrow. Does it cycle well with subsonic ammo?

Yes, the Sparrow cycles subsonic loads without any issues. I’ve shot hundreds without a single failure!

I use a Gemtech Lunar with the CCI subsonic and the performance is amazing. The sound is significantly muted – even quieter than a .22 airgun!

I’ve heard good things about the Gemtech! What about when shooting in full-auto mode?
