I’ve had excellent results with the Sierra 9mm 115 gr JHP in my Glock 19. Great accuracy and no feeding issues at all!

That’s awesome to hear! What kind of groups are you seeing at the range?

In my M&P Shield, the Sierra 9mm JHP performs reliably, but I noticed a bit more recoil than expected. Still manageable though.

I find that peculiar! I thought they were designed for a smoother shooting experience.

I’ve used them in a couple of different guns, and the reliability is solid across the board. Smiths and Glocks seem to love them.

That’s great to know, Devon! Do you feel like they perform well for self-defense purposes?

Absolutely! They’ve got good expansion, which is crucial for self-defense. I’ve seen some impressive tests online!

That sounds promising! Has anyone tried them in a Sig? I’m curious about the accuracy.

I ran them in my P226, and they grouped nicely. You’ll definitely get tight shots at 15 yards.

Now I’m sold! I need to add them to my next range day.

As for recoil, I think it really depends on the gun. Some platforms manage it better than others. Just my two cents!

Well, if I had a dime for every time I debated recoil management, I’d be rolling in it! Let’s keep our fingers crossed for smooth shots.

Honestly, I just love how versatile they are. I’ve even heard they do well in competitive shooting, anyone tried that yet?

That’s interesting, Michael! I’d like to know if anyone here uses them at matches.

I’ve been using the Sierra 9mm 115 gr JHP for a few months now, and I’m impressed with its expansion. In my tests, it consistently opened up to around .60 inches, which is on par with some of the leading brands.

That’s great to hear! How does it compare in penetration with the Gold Dot or XTP? I’m curious about its self-defense effectiveness.

In terms of penetration, I’ve found the Sierra to be reliable, often reaching around 12-13 inches in calibrated gel, similar to Hornady’s offerings. Overall, it’s a solid choice for both self-defense and competition.

Sounds promising, Dustin! Have you noticed any key differences in recoil compared to other hollow points?

The recoil feels quite manageable, which can help maintain follow-up shots in competitions. It’s definitely less snappy than some heavier loads I’ve tried. Love using it for IDPA matches!
