I’m on the hunt for some honest feedback and detailed reviews on the Sierra 9mm 115 gr JHP ammunition. I’ve been considering it for my next purchase, but I want to make sure I’m making an informed decision before I pull the trigger (pun intended).
Key Points I’m Interested In:
Effectiveness: How well does this ammo perform in realistic scenarios, especially for self-defense?
Reliability: Have you encountered any issues with feeding or firing?
Accuracy: How does it stack up in terms of precision at various distances?
Ballistic Performance: Any insights from tests you’ve seen or conducted?
Feel free to share anything from personal experiences to links to videos or articles that dive deep into the performance of this ammo. I’m looking for practical insights that can aid in my decision-making. Thanks in advance for your feedback!
I’ve been using the Sierra 9mm 115 gr JHP for a few months now, and I’m impressed with its expansion. In my tests, it consistently opened up to around .60 inches, which is on par with some of the leading brands.
In terms of penetration, I’ve found the Sierra to be reliable, often reaching around 12-13 inches in calibrated gel, similar to Hornady’s offerings. Overall, it’s a solid choice for both self-defense and competition.
The recoil feels quite manageable, which can help maintain follow-up shots in competitions. It’s definitely less snappy than some heavier loads I’ve tried. Love using it for IDPA matches!
