I’m diving into reloading for the .460 Rowland and could really use some advice from anyone who has experience with this cartridge. I want to make sure I’m following safe practices while also getting the best performance possible.
What I’m Looking For:
Powder Recommendations: I’ve heard a lot of different opinions on which powders work best for the .460 Rowland. Is there a consensus on the top choices?
Load Data: If you have any specific load data, I’d love to see it! What bullet weights are you using, and what are your preferred loads for hunting or self-defense?
Safety Tips: As a relatively new reloader, what are some key safety considerations I should keep in mind?
Modifications: Are there any load modifications you recommend based on your experience? I’m particularly interested in optimizing for different purposes, like hunting or range shooting.
General Tips: Any additional insights or resources that you think would be helpful for someone just starting out with .460 Rowland reloading?
A Little Background:
I’ve been reloading for a while now, focusing primarily on more common calibers, but I’m excited to explore the .460 Rowland. I want to ensure I approach this with the best possible knowledge and resources.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide! Looking forward to your insights and experiences!
I’m also looking for reloading data for .460 Rowland! I’ve heard that heavier bullets like 300 grain can provide excellent accuracy and stopping power. Has anyone had good results with these?
Absolutely! I’ve consistent results with 250 and 300 grain bullets. They also have a good balance of recoil and performance. It’s all about finding the right powder too!
Don’t forget about the different types of bullets! Hollow points and soft points may behave differently in terms of expansion and penetration. Anyone tried both types?
I’ve used both hollow points and hard cast bullets. The hollow points expand nicely but the hard cast are great for penetration. It all depends on what you’re using them for!
I’ve experimented with different weights, and I found that 260 grain bullets really made a difference for accuracy at longer ranges. What distances are most of you shooting at?
