I’m relatively new to modifying firearms, and I’m particularly interested in upgrading my M4 with a KAC rail extension. I’ve heard various things about how they can enhance functionality, but I’m a bit lost on the specifics.
Key Considerations:
Compatibility:
What should I be looking at to ensure the rail extension fits my M4?
Quality:
I’ve heard Knight’s Armament makes some solid products, but any opinions on what specific models are highly recommended?
Functionality:
How does a rail extension actually improve the usability of an M4? Any personal experiences?
Installation:
How difficult is it to install these extensions? Should I attempt it myself, or better to have a gunsmith do it?
Price Range:
What can I expect in terms of cost for a good rail extension?
Any Suggestions?
If anyone has experience with KAC M4 rail extensions or can point me to good resources or reviews, I’d really appreciate it! Looking forward to your insight and advice on making informed choices for my setup.
I have a KAC M4 rail extension on my Colt M4, and it fits perfectly. I’ve had issues with other extensions though, so I’d definitely recommend it for Colt models.
I’ve had a similar experience with KAC on my BCM. Sometimes you get a solid mount, and sometimes it’s just plain annoying. Not all models are made equally.
I’ve installed the KAC M4 rail extensions on my rifle. The installation was mostly straightforward, but I had a tough time aligning the screws properly. I recommend using a good torque wrench to avoid stripping them.
I can assure you that the KAC M4 rail extensions make a difference in handling. Just be aware that if you’re using a vertical grip, it may feel a little crowded at first.
