Looking for Feedback on 300 Remington Ultra Mag Ammo from Cabela's

I’m currently on the hunt for some quality 300 Remington Ultra Mag ammo, specifically from Cabela’s. I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews about various brands and options available, and I’d love to get some feedback from anyone who has experience with this caliber.

Things I’m Considering:

  • Price: What are you usually paying for a box of this ammo at Cabela’s? Is it worth it?
  • Brand Recommendations: I’ve noticed a few brands mentioned frequently, but which ones definitely stand out?
  • Availability: Has anyone had issues finding this caliber in stock? I want to know if I need to order online or if it’s more readily available at physical stores.

Any Specific Tips?

  • If you’ve got any personal experiences or insights about this ammo, especially regarding performance in the field or at the range, please share!
  • Also, if you have suggestions for alternate retailers or online sources that offer competitive prices or solid inventory, that would be super helpful too!

Looking forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts and recommendations!

I’ve been using Cabela’s 300 Rem Ultra Mag for a couple of seasons now. The accuracy is outstanding at long ranges—usually under 1 MOA for my rifle.

That’s great to hear! Have you tried any specific brands? How do they compare in terms of consistency?

I’ve tried Federal and Hornady. The Hornady rounds have been consistently more accurate for me, especially at 300 yards and beyond.

Interesting! I’ve always leaned towards Nosler. Anyone else have thoughts?

Nosler’s Accubond is a solid choice. Great expansion and weight retention, though I find them a bit pricier.

I haven’t tried many brands yet. I mostly stick with Cabela’s house brand for practice. Any thoughts on that for hunting?

Cabela’s can be hit or miss. They work fine for practice, but I wouldn’t trust them for big game.

The 300 Rem Ultra Mag really shines on the range. I hit targets consistently at long distances with the right ammo.

No doubt, it’s a flat shooting cartridge. Just remember, wind drift can be a challenge.

What do you all think about recoil? Everyone always talks about how powerful this cartridge is.

Recoil definitely packs a punch, but it’s manageable if you practice. It’s not a beginner’s cartridge, that’s for sure!

I feel like I should start lifting weights just to shoot this cartridge! Haha!

Haha, true! But seriously, practice helps a lot. Just take your time and work on your technique.

Agreed! And don’t forget to check your scope adjustments after each session.

I recently checked Cabela’s prices for the 300 Remington Ultra Mag ammo, and honestly, they seem a bit high compared to Bass Pro Shops. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes! I found it cheaper at Academy Sports last week. They had a deal that was pretty unbeatable.

I love Cabela’s, but their ammunition prices can be a bit steep. I always check for promos or discounts, but sometimes, it just isn’t worth it.

I’ve been eyeing some bulk purchases at Cabela’s, but the shipping fees add up. Anyone else have tips for getting better value?
