I’m diving into the world of reloading and I’m particularly interested in the .22 Nosler cartridge. I’ve heard great things about it, but I’m looking for some solid reloading data to get started.
What I’m Looking For
Load Recipes: What are some tried-and-true load recipes you’ve used for .22 Nosler? I’m eager to know about both maximum and starting loads.
Powders: Which powders have you found to deliver the best performance? I’m open to exploring various options based on availability and performance factors.
Primers and Bullets: I’d love to hear your thoughts on the best primers and bullet choices for this caliber. Any particular brands you recommend avoiding?
Experience Sharing: If you’ve had any significant challenges or successes while reloading .22 Nosler, please share your experiences. I’d like to learn from your insights.
Optimization Tips
Also, if there are specific techniques or tips you can provide for optimizing performance, that would be greatly appreciated! I want to ensure I’m getting the most out of my reloads.
Safety Considerations
Lastly, any safety considerations or things I should keep in mind while working with this caliber?
Thanks in advance for your help! I’m looking forward to hearing your suggestions and experiences!
I’ve had great success with Varget powder for .22 Nosler. It provides excellent accuracy and consistency. Just make sure you check the load data closely!
CFE 223 is an excellent choice! It’s temperature stable and offers great velocity, plus it has that copper-fouling eliminator feature. Definitely worth trying!
I’ve had good results with 68 grain target bullets. They really help tightened groups at distance. Each weight feels different; have you tried various types?
Great to hear about all these bullet weights! What about the types? I’ve been curious how hollow points compare to full metal jackets in terms of accuracy.
Honestly, I love a good hollow point for hunting, but for range use, FMJs are my go-to. It seems to come down to your intended purpose. What do you want to achieve?
I’ve also fiddled with OAL. I find that a shorter OAL pairs better with heavier bullets. The differences are subtle but can make a big impact in accuracy.
