Anyone tried the Weatherby 307 in 7mm PRC? Need some insights!

I’ve been looking into the Weatherby Model 307 rifle chambered for the 7mm PRC cartridge, and I’m curious to hear from fellow enthusiasts about their experiences. Here’s what I’d like to know:

Design and Features

  • What do you think about the overall design? How does it feel in the hands?
  • Are there specific features that stand out, especially compared to other rifles in the same category?

Performance

  • For those who’ve taken it out for hunting or shooting, how does it perform?
  • Any feedback on accuracy and range?
  • What are your thoughts on the recoil? Is it manageable?

Versions

  • I’ve seen mentions of different editions such as the MeatEater Edition and Range XP. How do they compare? Is one better suited for certain types of shooting or hunting?

Troubleshooting

I’ve heard some people mention feeding problems. Have any of you experienced this? How did you resolve it, or was it a deal-breaker?

Availability

Lastly, any tips on where to find one at a reasonable price? I’m considering picking one up but want to make sure I’m getting a good deal.

Looking forward to your opinions and insights! Thanks in advance!

I’ve been using the Weatherby 307 with 7mm PRC for a while now. The ballistics are impressive! The 7mm PRC cartridge really shines at longer ranges, delivering good velocity and energy.

Absolutely! The flat trajectory of the 7mm PRC makes it ideal for long-range hunting. I’ve found it effective for deer at extended distances.

I’m curious about the recoil. Does the Weatherby 307 handle it well compared to other rifles? I’ve heard mixed reviews.

The recoil is noticeable, but manageable. It’s not as bad as some heavier calibers, which makes it suitable for more hunters.

The energy transfer of the 7mm PRC is fantastic, especially with heavier bullets. I use it for elk and can vouch for its stopping power!

That sounds great! I’ve mostly hunted with a .308. Does the 7mm PRC outperform it in terms of drop at distance? Looking for insights!

Definitely! The 7mm PRC has a flatter trajectory compared to the .308, making it better for long-range shots.

I would also recommend practicing with it to get a handle on the ballistics. Once you know your drop and windage, it’s a game changer!

That’s a good point. Consistent practice is key. By the way, have you guys noticed any significant barrel wear with the 7mm PRC?

Great question! So far, my barrel has held up well. I think it mostly depends on how many rounds you send downrange and the quality of the barrel.

I’ve been researching the Weatherby 307 in 7mm PRC, and I’ve found some intriguing reviews. The build quality is top-notch, with most users praising the feel and fit. I’m really curious about how it handles recoil, though.

I recently tried out a friend’s Weatherby 307, and I have to say, the recoil is manageable for a magnum. It’s not as harsh as I expected, which was a pleasant surprise.

I haven’t shot the exact combo, but I’ve handled the Weatherby 307. It feels balanced and ergonomic. I’ve read that the 7mm PRC offers excellent range without excessive recoil, making it great for long-range shots.

I agree! The balance is impressive, especially for a rifle in this caliber. Have you noticed any performance differences in similar rifles?

The 7mm PRC is getting a lot of praise in the hunting community lately. I love Weatherby’s reputation for quality. Anyone have feedback on its accuracy? I’ve read some remarkable claims about that.

Accuracy-wise, I can confirm that the Weatherby 307 holds up its end! I’ve shot multiple groups under an inch at 100 yards. It’s quite stable at different ranges!

Honestly, the only downside I’ve found is the price point. It’s a bit steep, but you get what you pay for in terms of craftsmanship. If you can afford it, it’s an investment that pays off.
