7mm PRC Load Data Needed! Anyone Have Tips?

Looking for 7mm PRC Load Data

I’m diving into reloading for my 7mm PRC and could really use some guidance on load data. It’s a relatively new cartridge, and I want to make sure I’m maximizing its potential.

Specifics I’m Interested In:

  • Optimal Powder Charges: What powders have you found to be the most effective? I’ve heard good things about H1000 and IMR 7828, but I’m open to suggestions.
  • Bullet Selection: Which bullets do you recommend for different applications (hunting, target shooting, etc.)? I’m considering the 175-grain AccuBond or the 162-grain ELD-X but could use insight on performance.
  • Overall Cartridge Length: What OAL have you been using? Any particular measurements that seem to give better accuracy?

Share Your Experiences

I’m hoping to gather some collective wisdom! If you have any pet loads or tips from your own experiences, please share. I’d love to know:

  • Your preferred load data, including powder type, charge weight, and bullet seating depth.
  • Any notable successes or failures in your own reloading process with the 7mm PRC.

Thanks in advance for your help! Looking forward to your insights!

I’m also looking for solid load data for 7mm PRC. I’ve heard great things about H1000 powder for its velocity and consistency. Has anyone else tried it?

H1000 is a solid choice! I’ve also had success with the RL26. It provides impressive velocity and accuracy. Just make sure to check pressure signs since it can be a bit spicy!

I find that IMR 7828 also works pretty well for this caliber. It’s versatile and easy to find right now, which can be a bonus!

IMR 7828 is decent, but I’ve heard mixed reviews on consistency. Have you noticed any issues with temperature sensitivity?

Temperature sensitivity has been a concern for some, but I think it’s manageable with proper load development. One thing’s for sure, I can’t wait to hit the range with my reloads!

If you’re looking for something a bit less popular, you might want to try the Ramshot Magnum. It’s not a usual choice but delivers good speeds and accuracy.

Never thought of Ramshot Magnum! Might be worth a shot. How’s the recoil compared to the other powders mentioned?

Recoil is manageable with Ramshot Magnum. Just be sure to use a heavier bullet if you want to control it better. I personally enjoy the kick!

I’m jumping into the 7mm PRC realm and hoping to get good accuracy for long-range. Are there specific bullet weights that pair best with these powders?

I’ve seen excellent results with 162 grains and 175 grains. Both seem to perform well with the powders we discussed. It’s all about finding the right combination!

The 7mm PRC works well with a variety of bullets. For hunting, I’ve had great success with the Hornady ELD-X bullets. They’re designed for both expansion and accuracy, making them versatile for different game.

I totally agree! Those bullets are amazing for hunting. I’ve also heard good things about the Accubond Long Range bullets for bigger game.

For long-range shooting, consider using Berger Hybrid Target bullets. They have high ballistic coefficients and are known for their precision at distances.

That’s true! I’ve also found that the Sierra MatchKing works well for target shooting; consistent and accurate.

Has anyone tried lighter bullets like the 150 grain for varmint hunting? I’m curious if they stabilize well in the 7mm PRC.

I have used 150 grains, and as long as you tune your load, they work great. Just make sure your twist rate is compatible.

I appreciate all the tips! With so many bullet choices, it can get overwhelming. Just focusing on one application at a time helps simplify things.

Absolutely! It’s easy to get caught up in the specs and forget what you need for your shot.

I can’t decide between a ballistic tip or a soft point for my next hunting trip! Decisions, decisions. Anyone have a preference?
